BitHaus Identity

BitHaus was a multimedia school in Japan in the late 1990’s which was recently relaunched by a collective of its former members as a lab/hackerspace that “provides a forum to connect diverse net communities, discover new values, and bring the future closer.” The identity (including the logo, alternate iconography and patterns) is inspired by the concept of “Ba”, with the movement from small to large circles representing the movement from individual to a larger whole. Overlapping and intersecting transparency is used to illustrate how the four stages of ba interact and connect and conjoin to form a more harmonious and expressive structure that transcends its individual elements. Also shown here are a variety of worthy, but unused, earlier iterations.
